Car Seat Safety Education

The Stakes are High.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration 46% of car seats on US roadways are used incorrectly. Proper car seat use can reduce fatal injury by as much as 71%. When we consider that every 25 seconds in America a child is involved in a car accident, we want to do all we can to increase their safety.

Children, especially babies, depend completely on their loving caregivers to make sure they’re safe and secure. That can feel like a lot of pressure, especially when it comes to a product with which you’re not super familiar. This can lead to spending your already limited time and energy reading car seat manuals, researching vehicle manuals, exploring seat position options in relation to airbags and additional passenger’s needs, and still having questions about the child’s safety needs.

Save yourself time and energy, and give yourself peace of mind by hiring one of our Nationally Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians TODAY!

Intentionality Matters

We know there are agencies that offer car seat inspections at no cost— we know because we used to work for one of those agencies. But we also know that, more often than not, the people who do car seats for those agencies do them in addition to a number of other assignments. This means they never get to devote adequate time into becoming true car seat experts. We also know they often require that you go to them—they probably won’t go to you. This can make a chore turn into a burden, and we know from experience that you have enough on your plate without adding that big of a headache.

When you choose to book with Car Seat Concierge, you tell us when and where to meet and we come to you. Whether it’s at the hospital, your home, or the car seat aisle at the store, we’ll meet you where you are and help make sure the seat that will hold your most precious cargo is ready to do its job should the unthinkable happen.

We’ll even make sure the snack crumbs hiding in and around your baby’s seat are vacuumed away along with your car seat worries! We’re moms so we understand that spending a little money in order to ease a major burden—and get a cleaner car!— is well worth it, and friend, you deserve it.

why choose us

We know the struggles of parenthood because, well, we’re moms! We are walking this bumpy road alongside you, with an extra bit of expertise in one important area; the car seat. You’ve worked hard to get your baby here, let us come to you and help with the car seat.

With almost 20 years combined experience as certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians (CPST), (and over 10 years combined as CPST Instructors) we (co-owners Kelsey & Rachel) started Car Seat Concierge so we could dedicate all our work time to educating parents, caregivers, and community partners on the proper use of car seats.

So whether you’re a parent/caregiver wanting to know more about the seat(s) your family is using, or you work for an agency wanting to get staff trained and/or certified as CPSTs, Car Seat Concierge is here to help. While we’re based in Bakersfield, California, we’re open to discussing what it would take to come to you.

Appointments are easy as…

1

Know your child’s age, height and weight; your vehicle’s make and model; your car seat’s make and model (if you already have one).

2

Book an appointment to fit your family’s schedule.

3

Our technicians come to you, and give you the peace of mind you’re seeking.

The Story So Far

There we were, working for a government agency, juggling more than a dozen different important assignments at any given time, when the boss says, “Clear next week on your calendar; I’m sending you to a 40 hour training on car seats. Thanks!”

Okay…..but, quick question…. What on God’s green earth could there possibly be to know about car seats that will take a full week to learn? Also, how are we supposed to fit car seat appointments into our already jam-packed daily workloads?

That was how a passion for this work was born.

In 2014 and 2015 respectively, we, Kelsey and Rachel, became certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians (CPSTs). Neither of us had children at the time, nor did we have a particularly burning desire to work with car seats; however, we earned our CPST certifications and started offering seat checks to any community member who asked for help. Before long, we both found ourselves wanting to commit more time and energy into this part of our job, but with so many other pressing assignments, it just wasn’t possible.

Fast forward a few years, we had both started our families and left that government agency in pursuit of new career opportunities. While car seats weren’t part of those new careers, the desire to continue working with them never went away.

Then in early 2023, we got a call from the CPST Instructor team who had trained us almost a decade earlier. They were getting ready to retire and wanted to know if we were interested in purchasing their equipment and carrying on the business of training new CPSTs. After careful consideration, and with the unwavering support of our husbands, we decided to take the plunge. A couple months later we had quit our corporate jobs and started doing “car seat stuff” full-time!

We know that car seats seem like such simple safety devices. After all, you just buckle them into the vehicle, strap your child in, and badda-bing, badda-boom! You’re good to go!

But, wait, are you supposed to use both the lower anchors and the vehicle seatbelt? Did you route the seat belt through the correct belt path? Does that particular seat in your vehicle allow for a car seat installation? Is the car seat angled correctly? The seat says it can fit a 100 pound child, but then it says something else about not using it past 40 pounds….? When should you turn your child forward-facing? Are they really ready to be done with their booster seat?

Sure, car seats seem simple, but there’s also a lot of nuance that comes with them! Each seat is designed to fit a broad range of vehicles and an even broader range of children. Not every seat will fit every vehicle or every child—so how do you know if you’ve got the right seat for your vehicle and your child?

That’s where we come in. With the help of a Nationally Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician, you can be sure your child’s car seat is properly installed in your vehicle and that your child is properly restrained in their seat. We believe a personalized approach offers the best results for each child and family’s specific needs. We also know raising a family can be hectic. Who has time to gather up all their kids for a car seat appointment at an unfamiliar location? Let us come to you and eliminate some of the chaos that accompanies family outings. We can show you how to install your child’s seat while your kiddo stays occupied with Bluey (thank God for Bluey).

Whether you are a parent/caregiver looking for help with your car seats, a community group looking for a general car seat education presentation, or an agency wanting to get staff certified as CPSTs, Car Seat Concierge is here for you. We are Kern County’s only certified CPST Instructor company, fully equipped to train and certify new CPSTs while also being available to help families on an individual basis.

We can’t prevent accidents, but we can help you in your pursuit of protecting your most precious cargo.
